Aylesford
This embroidered picture is not done by Marjorie, but by a member of North Kent Embroiderers Guild. Marjorie's claim to fame with it, is that she bought it and had it framed

Really Shape Piecing This piece Marjorie, attended a day school by Barbara Barber who is as equally passionate about quilts as Marjorie is! This quilt pattern is called Really Sharp Piecing Click here to see her website.

Quilt 1

'Vice versa' - I have long been an admirer of Katherine Guerrier, a quilter whose 'scrap' quilts make use of a glorious mixture of coloured and patterned fabrics and of a basic patchwork shape - the 1/2" square triangle. 'Vice Versa' is my tribute to her style and the name dervices from the fact that I muddled my 'lights' and 'darks' and finished up with the opposite effect to what I had intended.

It is hand pieced and machine quilted

Log Cabin Patchwork

In case you haven't realised by now - Marjorie loves patchwork and quilting

This piece is Log Cabin Star

Quiilt 3
These are two close ups of the 'Vice Versa' quilt. Marjorie was heard to say at a recent Embroiderers Guild meeting 'I love a mixture of colours - and I just throw it all in and see what happens!'

'Stars in a Maze' I had lots of squares left over from Vice Versa and stared to play with the light/dark effects by pinning them them up on a wall and moving them around (inbetween doing other pieces). This year - 2008 - I decided it must be finished, and am pleased with the result. Again it is hand pieced and machine quilted and oh yes, I still have some squares left!

Quilt 5

Tribute to Lucy Boston quilt

This quilt was shown at Region 2 of the Quilters Guild annual show at Hever Castle, Kent in Septmeber 2008. It is made of 'long' hexagonsand hand sewn over papers. Lucy Maria Boston (1892-1990) was a British author noted for her longevity; she did not have her first book published until she was over 60. She is best known for her Green Knowe books, inspired by her home The Manor in Hemingford Grey, where the original Patchwork of the crosses may be viewed.

Cicada purse
I made this cicada purse at a workshop with Sylvia Critcher in 2005. I used a combination of patchwork cotton materials and shiny silk remnants.
